{"id":956,"date":"2019-11-12T11:06:36","date_gmt":"2019-11-12T16:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/?p=956"},"modified":"2019-11-12T11:06:36","modified_gmt":"2019-11-12T16:06:36","slug":"sip-themed-consultations-begin-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/2019\/sip-themed-consultations-begin-this-week\/","title":{"rendered":"SIP Themed Consultations Begin This Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To All Members of the Carleton Community,<\/p>\n<p>Over the last eight weeks, the <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\">Strategic Integrated Planning (SIP)<\/a> Task Force has been actively engaging the Carleton community in interactive discussions about Carleton\u2019s strengths and vision for the future. We have had informative and productive discussions during this Open Consultation phase and we thank everyone for your engagement in this important process.<\/p>\n<p>We have now collected contributions from more than 1,000 in-person conversations and more than 200 online submissions. Success on these activities is critical to achieving our mission but these activities are not unique to Carleton. During the themed consultation phase, we will explore the ways in which we can build our strengths in the following Mission Pillars:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research<\/li>\n<li>Teaching and Learning<\/li>\n<li>Student Experience<\/li>\n<li>Organizational Excellence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>Emerging Strategic Themes<\/strong> are ideas we heard from the campus community about how we can leverage our strengths and distinctive campus character to create a unique vision of Carleton\u2019s future. The Emerging Strategic Themes are intended to be applied across the Mission Pillars. They represent alternative visions of what Carleton could become. Although the themes will evolve as we develop these ideas further, the next phase of our consultation will be structured around the following preliminary Emerging Strategic Themes as possible futures for Carleton, in no particular order:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leadership in Sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Campus-Community Engagement<\/li>\n<li>Access, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion<\/li>\n<li>Real-World\/Social Impact Beyond Disciplinary Boundaries<\/li>\n<li>Healthy Environments<\/li>\n<li>Innovation<\/li>\n<li>Internationalization<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous Initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We invite and welcome your feedback on these themes. We will hold one campus-wide consultation on each topic. These consultations will differ from the sessions in the Open Consultation phase and will dive more deeply into the particular theme to help us envision how this approach could shape Carleton\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Registration is now open for the following sessions: <\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/indigenousinitiatives\/cu-events\/campus-draft-cta-nov-13\">Nov. 13 \u2013 Indigenous Initiatives (as part of the CUISIC process)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/research-nov-15\/\">Nov. 15 \u2013 Research<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/student-experience-nov-15\/\">Nov. 15 \u2013 Student Experience<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/teaching-learning-nov-18\/\">Nov. 18 \u2013 Teaching and Learning<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/organizational-excellence-nov-18\/\">Nov. 18 \u2013 Organizational Excellence<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/sustainability-nov-20\/\">Nov. 20 \u2013 Leadership in Sustainability<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/community-nov-22\/\">Nov. 22 \u2013 Campus-Community Engagement<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/equity-nov-22\/\">Nov. 22 \u2013 Access, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/impact-nov-25\/\">Nov. 25 \u2013 Real-World\/Social Impact Beyond Disciplinary Boundaries<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/environments-nov-25\/\">Nov. 25 \u2013 Healthy Environments<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/innovation-nov-26\/\">Nov. 26 \u2013 Innovation<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/cu-events\/international-nov-27\/\">Nov. 27 \u2013 Internationalization<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Consultation for the Emerging Strategic Theme of Indigenous Initiatives will be integrated with the work of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/indigenousinitiatives\/\">Carleton University Indigenous Strategic Initiatives Committee (CUISIC)<\/a> on the recommendation of CUISIC.
