Ghadah Alrasheed is a PhD candidate. Her interests center around critical theories, post-colonial studies, philosophy of technology, revolution and movement theories and discourse approaches to communication and media. She is particularly interested in Western engagement with Eastern movements. Her dissertation explores how academics as part of western expertise described the Arab and Iranian movements and how they represented the role of digital media in propelling these events, and whether their type of arguments -ways of seeing – were extensions of historical discourses that are peculiar to the West than being reflections of actual occurrences in the MENA region.
