With an undergraduate degree in journalism and a minor in social innovation and nonprofit studies from Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta, Amber is passionate about reporting deep, complex issues within our society. In 2018, she was awarded the Canadian Association of Journalists’ Student Award of Excellence for “Lost in the System,” a multimedia feature about the challenges of accessing gender affirming surgery for transgender individuals in Alberta.

Since graduating, Amber has written for multiple publications including Avenue, Seekers Media, WestJet Magazine, and LiveWire Calgary. She holds a particular interest in expanding her investigative and data journalism knowledge, as well as continuing to write and produce longform, impactful pieces of journalism. Amber is thrilled to be pursuing her Master of Journalism at Carleton University.
