Andrea Bennett
Biography
Andrea is joining the Master of Journalism program after finishing her first year at Ryerson University. She discovered her passion for journalism in her last few years of high school, when she had the opportunity to be interviewed on CBC radio, A Channel and CTV.
After completing an honours bachelor of science degree at the University of Ottawa, she decided to pursue her long-time interest in reporting and broadcasting. During Andrea’s first year of the MJ program at Ryerson University, she had the opportunity to write for Maclean’s “They Were Loved” tribute project. Andrea also had the opportunity to intern with CBC, gaining invaluable experience in the newsroom. She chased stories, conducted interviews, and wrote scripts for morning and news shows. Andrea also wrote web stories and had a voicer on CBC Radio One.
Andrea also interned with CPAC, the Cable Public Affairs Channel. She gained experience in interviewing, election research and planning. Andrea was also a part of producing CPAC’s series “Outburst,” creating content and doing “streeters.” She is continuing to work with CPAC as a production assistant. Her role will include helping to produce the show “Outburst” and produce election content as we approach the federal election this fall.
