Fangliang Xu (许方亮) is a photographer, videographer, documentary filmmaker and editor. Born in Wuxi, China, she worked as a TV news reporter in International Channel Shanghai before coming in Canada and getting her Master’s degree in Journalism from Carleton University. Her work has appeared on CBC News, Bell Fibe TV, Vice News, TVO, Rwanda Television News, National Arts Centre, Apartment 613, Daily Extra, Canada Capital Pride, City of Ottawa, among others. Her latest documentary, funded by the National Geographic, took a close look at the killer whale conservation work in West Iceland. She’s interested in topics related to mental health, cultural diversity, and environmental conservation.
