Scott Hannant believes that good story telling is the basis for excellence in journalism. He is President of Hannant Media Solution, a company that produces compelling video stories and consults internationally on television journalism and communications. Scott worked as a journalist for close to 30 years, the last 16 of them as News Director at CTV Ottawa. He completed Online Learning course this year. He also graduated from Carleton’s Fundamentals of University Teaching course. Scott’s relationship with Carleton University began long before he joined the School of Journalism and Communications as an instructor. As a News Director, Scott believed strongly in nurturing the talent of young reporters through his newsroom’s internship program with Carleton. Many television journalists in Canada got their start through that program and then as student reporters at CJOH and CTV News in Ottawa. Scott is Past President of the Board at the Ottawa Mission. He is an advisor to the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health and an honorary lifetime member of the Vanier Institute of the Family. He received the Ottawa Community Builder Award in 2009. In 2013, he was awarded the Diamond Jubilee medal for service to Canadian families.
