Emma Johnston

Biography

Emma (she/her) graduated from Carleton University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Communication and Media Studies and a minor in Women and Gender Studies, where she was awarded a Senate Medal. She has worked in various communications-related positions in the federal public service throughout her undergraduate degree. Her research interests include visual communication, algorithmic culture, social media, and health communication. She is particularly interested in how algorithms influence health literacy through social media. She hopes to expand her academic interests as she learns new topics during her postgraduate studies.

When she is not at her desk studying, she can be found taking her Sheepadoodle, Margie, on long walks with a vanilla sweet cream cold brew from Starbucks in her hand. She also enjoys baking desserts, exercising, and trying new restaurants.
