Biography

I am interested in studying Canada’s efforts thus far as a member of the Open Government Partnership. As this global initiative seeks to use new technologies to increase the communication between governments and citizens through increasing transparency, accountability and participation online, I aim to explore the effects that citizen consultations truly have on final policy outcomes. Specifically, I am analyzing the raw data from the consultation sessions prior to the creation of the Second Action Plan in Canada and how much citizen contributions were reflected. Further, I aim to examine the extent to which Canada followed Open Government guidelines for the consultation process.
