In 1971, he moved to Winnipeg as a reporter for CBC Radio, and in 1972, joined CBC Television. He became The National’s reporter in Saskatchewan in 1975, and, in 1976, was named one of the program’s parliamentary correspondents in Ottawa. He became chief correspondent and anchor of The National in 1988.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: Arial; color: #222222;\">In more than 40 years with CBC News, Mansbridge has provided comprehensive coverage of the most significant stories in Canada and around the world. He’s interviewed countless international leaders, and has the distinction of being the only Canadian journalist to have interviewed U.S. President Barack Obama.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: Arial; color: #222222;\">During a decorated career, Mansbridge has received more than a dozen national awards for excellence in broadcast journalism. He has received nine honorary degrees from universities across the country and has been recognized by leading universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: Arial; color: #222222;\">In 2008, Mansbridge was made an officer of the Order of Canada by Gov. Gen. Micha\u00eblle Jean. Jennifer is a frequent contributor to television and radio public affairs programs, including CBC\u2019s <em>Power and Politics<\/em> and the At Issue panel on <em>The National<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>She holds a bachelor of arts from Concordia University, and a master of journalism from Carleton University. She is the co-editor with Graham Fox of the 2016 book <em>The Harper Factor: Assessing a Prime Minister\u2019s Policy Legacy<\/em> (McGill-Queen\u2019s University Press).
