Student","degrees":"","expertise":"no","profile_image":16928,"heading":"","biography":"<p><strong>Jenny Kliever (she\/her)<\/strong> is a PhD candidate in the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University. She has a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master\u2019s in Science Communication, and has held science communication roles at SNOLAB, the Canadian Association of Physicists, and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology.<\/p>\n<p>In her PhD research, Jenny uses a multidisciplinary approach to study science communication, with a focus on astrophysics. She is interested in how awe is constructed and mediated in communication about astrophysics achievements, how images of space both show and constitute the reality of contemporary scientific practice, and how awe in science communication surfaces tensions between science and religion. Her work troubles the assumption that science is objective, neutral, and secular. Jenny\u2019s doctoral research has been funded by a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship and an Ontario Graduate Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>Jenny is also interested in how the current information environment shapes misleading communication about climate change, net zero objectives, and the energy transition in Canada.
