donors, the Future of Journalism Initiative is now offering students access to <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/journalism\/about\/fji\/emerging-reporter-funds\/\">seven unique Emerging Reporter Funds<\/a>. These funds are available to journalism students wishing to pursue journalism projects that require significant funding in order to complete.<\/p>\n"}],"text_columns_background":"white","custom_block_title":"Emerging Reporter Funds"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text_columns","add_icons":"no","columns":[{"column_title":"The Truth in Journalism project","icon_list":false,"column_content":"<p>The FJI recently collaborated with The Walrus on the creation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/thetijproject.ca\/\">Truth in Journalism<\/a> project, which culminated in the creation of a guide to improve fact-checking education in journalism. The project was being spearheaded by 2021\/2022 FJI journalists-in-residence <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/profile\/baker-allison\/\">Allison Baker<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/profile\/fairbank-viviane\/\">Viviane Fairbank<\/a>. Housed in the School of Journalism and Communication, Baker and Fairbank led The Truth in Journalism project, which created a free and accessible curriculum for fact-checking education. Their work is funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newswire.ca\/news-releases\/michener-awards-foundation-announces-fellowship-winners-840844470.html\">Michener-L. Richard O\u2019Hagan Fellowship for Journalism Education<\/a> and will be done in partnership with FJI and The Walrus.<\/p>\n<p>Read more about their project <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/2021\/new-journalists-in-residence-partner-the-walrus-and-the-future-of-journalism-initiative-on-project-to-advance-fact-checking-education\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n"}],"text_columns_background":"grey","custom_block_title":"Fact-checking guide"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text_columns","add_icons":"no","columns":[{"column_title":"They Were Loved \u2014 Obituary Project","icon_list":false,"column_content":"<p>As has been reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/listen\/live-radio\/1-100-ottawa-morning\/clip\/15819925-they-were-loved-project\">CBC<\/a> Radio, <a href=\"https:\/\/j-source.ca\/article\/obits-evolve-with-digital-mourning\/\">J-Source<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/story\/lives-lost-covid-19-pandemic\/\">Carleton\u2019s own newsroom<\/a>, this project was spearheaded by the FJI, Maclean&#8217;s magazine and J-Schools Canada and funded with the generous support of the Giustra Foundation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macleans.ca\/they-were-loved\/\"><strong>Click Here<\/strong><\/a> to go directly to the obituary project\u2019s homepage at <em>Maclean\u2019s<\/em> magazine.
