Courses will be taught primarily online, bolstered by in-person intensives at a central location.<\/p>\n<p>The School is collaborating with two of Ontario\u2019s Indigenous Institutes \u2013 First Nations Technical Institute and Kenjgewin Teg \u2013 to develop a braided learning experience, ensuring every learner has adequate social and cultural support for successful completion of the JIICC.<\/p>\n<p>The CJIIC will offer a suite of Carleton University micro-credentials, which may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fundamental skills of reporting<\/li>\n<li>Writing for media<\/li>\n<li>Audio storytelling<\/li>\n<li>Visual storytelling<\/li>\n<li>Entrepreneurial journalism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Indigenous pedagogy will be central to course design, with an emphasis on experiential learning. The Algonquins of Pikw\u00e0kanag\u00e0n First Nation, the Mohawk Nation of Akwesasne, and Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation are all supporting the course as community partners.<\/p>\n<p>Students are responsible for researching and producing an enterprise news story with multimedia elements. He was the driving force behind <i>Kuper\u00a0Island<\/i>, an award-winning eight-part podcast series on residential schools. In addition to hosting CBC Radio One\u2019s <i>Cross Country Checkup<\/i>\u00a0and <i>Helluva\u00a0Story<\/i>, he was a longstanding correspondent for CBC-TV\u2019s flagship news show, <i>The National<\/i>.
