Funds. These funds are available to journalism students wishing to pursue journalism projects that require significant funding in order to complete. The purpose of each fund is outlined below.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants wishing to apply to any of the Emerging Reporter Funds listed below must download and complete the following <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026-Emerging-Reporter-Fund-application-form-new.docx\">application form<\/a>. <strong>The deadline for applications to all Emerging Reporter Funds is April 17, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n"}],"text_columns_background":"white","custom_block_title":"HOW TO APPLY"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text_columns","add_icons":"no","columns":[{"column_title":"Leonard Shifrin and Louise Dulude Canadian Social Policy Emerging Reporter Fund","icon_list":false,"column_content":"<p>The purpose of this fund is to support the innovative research and reporting projects of upper-level undergraduate and graduate journalism students.\u00a0Students will work closely with journalism faculty members to advance a project of their chosen topic, related to progressive social policy in Canada, and to disseminate results through publications or other channels best suited to their specific project. Subjects explored through these in-depth pieces include topics of human rights, and in general will contribute to social justice and the pursuit of equitable decision-making.\u00a0Students receiving support from the Fund will pursue in-depth projects that some media outlets might otherwise be reluctant to assign to new journalists. Individual grants will be based on the merit of the reporter, and the scope of the project and its funding needs. Funding can include costs related to the research and reporting project, including travel.
