What should the Journalism schools of the future look like? How do we get there?<\/p>\n

Journalism students around the world were invited to submit their ideas for the World Journalism Education Congress<\/a> in Paris this July. \"\"Five winners from five continents were selected \u2013 and among them was our own second-year student, Safiyah Marhnouj<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marhnouj will present her vision on stage during the Innovation in Higher Education session at the Congress.<\/p>\n

“I am so excited to have the chance to speak at the WJEC conference in Paris and be able to share, hear and explore so many incredible ideas,” she said. “I am also incredibly honoured to have been chosen as the representative for the Americas and hope that I am able to represent and do Carleton University proud.”<\/p>\n

Marhnouj’s ideas for Journalism schools of tomorrow spring from her conviction that students need to be inspired to stretch the boundaries of their storytelling through new relationships with technology and social media. Asked for three keywords to define journalism education’s future, her response was: “hands-on, adaptable, unconventional.”<\/p>\n
