The\u00a0<em>Oliver No. 5<\/em> was manufactured between 1911 and 1914 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sljohnson.net\/typewriter\/oliver\/oliver-serials.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">serial numbers 350,000 to 494,000<\/a>), this one probably manufactured in late 1912 or early 1913.<\/p>\n<p>A popular down strike typewriter, the\u00a0<em>Oliver No. 5<\/em> was a favourite in North America with 28 keys, while the concurrent 32 key unit, the <em>Oliver No. 6<\/em>, was more popular in Europe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Manufactured in Woodstock, Illinois<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mechanical Typewriter Manufacture Period: c. 1911-14 Serial No. 399759 The Oliver Typewriter Company produced it&#8217;s first typewriter, the Oliver No.1 in the fall of 1894, and operated as a premiere typewriter company until 1959.
