It <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW165328044 BCX0\">set<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165328044 BCX0\"> the standard for modern phones. The phone was <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165328044 BCX0\">made by the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW165328044 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW165328044 BCX0\">Elektrisk<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165328044 BCX0\"> Bureau A\/S in Oslo. Later, it was made and distributed by its subsidiary, AB Alpha in <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165328044 BCX0\">Sweden, making the phone a Swedish-Norwegian collaboration. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165328044 BCX0\">The phone became an important prototype for the Bell <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW165328044 BCX0\">Grop\u2019s<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165328044 BCX0\"> 300-model in 1937 and replace the standing candle holder telephones that were prevalent in America. In 1947, the phone was Ameri<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165328044 BCX0\">canized by using plastic and changing the metal finger dial to an impact-resistant thermoplastic.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW251897676 BCX0\">The telephone revolutionized manufacturing by reducing the time for production from one week to seven minutes.
