\"\"Patrick Butler BJ \u201917 has been selected for the prestigious Parliamentary Internship Programme<\/a>, known as PIP. \u00a0As one of ten talented young people from across the country chosen for this work-study experience, Butler will work with Members of Parliament on both sides of the House of Commons over the next year. He will also visit legislatures across Canada and beyond, in Washington and Europe.<\/p>\n

“As a non-partisan work-study\u00a0behind the\u00a0scenes on Parliament Hill, PIP offers the chance to gain a privileged point of view on how federal politics works. It’s an incredible experience that I hope will have a major impact on\u00a0the stories I write as a journalist in years to come,\u201d Butler says.<\/p>\n

It is the latest in a series of honours received by Patrick Butler who spent the summer of 2017 working at the CBC in Montreal and Toronto after being selected for a Joan Donaldson CBC News Scholarship<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n

“The Donaldson internship allowed me the chance to sink my teeth into web, TV and radio reporting straight out of university \u2013 and to do so in two very\u00a0different areas of the country,\u201d Butler says, \u201cI can’t imagine a better opportunity for a young journalist.”<\/p>\n

Butler, an outstanding student who earned a combined honours degree in Journalism and Political Science, also received a Provost Scholar Award<\/a> from Carleton earlier this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
