Faculty members Angel Arias, Rachelle Vessey, and Jaffer Sheyholislami presented at the Language Policy and Planning Conference held at McGill University, August 25-27, 2022. Their joint paper was entitled “Jumping through Hoops in the Canadian Immigration System: A Critical View of the Immigrant’s Journey to Citizenship.” The paper will be published in TESOL Quarterly soon (DOI: 10.1002/tesq.3184).
As part of the conference’s focus this year on endangered and minoritized languages, Jaffer was also one of the plenary speakers at the conference. His talk focused on language policy and linguistic human rights in Kurdistan.
