Interested in applying for academic jobs (tenure-track and limited term appointments)? In this workshop we focus on unpacking the components of academic applications (such as the cover letter, teaching philosophy, and research statement) and share tips and strategies for organizing your application package.

If you have any questions/comments/would like to get in touch, feel free to contact Christine, your 2019/2020 Graduate Transitions Mentor, at

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology’s Transitions Workshop Series focuses on preparing current students and recent graduates for the job market by providing resources, strategies, and information about a wide range of career paths (academic and alternative-to-academic) available to people who have a graduate degree. The workshop series is also a great space to work through what career transitions means for you, while meeting other people and sharing support/advice with one another.

In addition to organizing career-related workshops, as the Graduate Transitions Mentor Christine is also available for one-on-one guidance/support and she administers a Facebook page where she regularly posts academic and alternative-to-academic job postings: Carleton Sociology & Anthropology Grad Student Transitions.
