M. E. O\u2019Brien will dialogue with Alexis Shotwell on their respective engagements with Samuel Delany\u2019s science fiction novel Trouble on Triton<\/em>. O\u2019Brien\u2019s paper, entitled \u201cSome, Each and All: Sexual Difference and Communism\u201d is forthcoming in Pinko. It uses Delany\u2019s work to consider the difficulty of sexual satisfaction in the dialectic of revolutionary communism, turning to Lacan\u2019s formulas of sexuation to trace the non-dialectical, non-resolvable character of sexual difference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

M. E. O\u2019Brien is a psychoanalyst and writer in New York City. She has two books, Family Abolition: Capitalism and the Communizing of Care<\/em>\u00a0(Pluto, 2023) and the co-authored speculative fiction novel Everything for Everyone: An Oral History of the New York Commune, 2052-2072<\/em>, with Eman Abdelhadi (Common Notions, 2022). She previously completed a PhD in Sociology, writing on capitalism and NYC queer and trans social movements. She is involved in a number of editing projects, including Pinko, a magazine of gay communism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
