What is SASA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SASA is Carleton University\u2019s Sociology and Anthropology Student Association. We are a student-run society that works with the department to advocate for the needs of our undergraduate community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We aim to create a space at Carleton University for undergraduate students passionate about sociology and anthropology to express themselves and connect with others who share their interests. We host frequent events to engage students and allow them to connect in a casual setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a team of mostly upper-year students, we hope to provide one-on-one support to new students where we can. Whether you\u2019d benefit from help navigating campus resources, understanding a course outline, support during the midterm and finals crunch, or you\u2019re just not sure where to go, we are more than happy to help. You can get in touch during our office hours, come up to any of us during an event, or reach out over email, Instagram, or Discord (links below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 2025\/26 school year, we will be hosting a mix of both academic and social events, creating a space for community and connection in person and online, and continuing to keep you up to date on relevant happenings in the department. Some of our academic events this year will include a Master\u2019s info night in the fall, and a repeat of our popular Co-op and Honour\u2019s Thesis info nights in the winter. For socials, you can look forward to a clothing swap, game and move nights, and an arts and crafts event, among others. As always, we will continue to host weekly office hours and study sessions before midterms and finals. Dates and locations for all events will be made available on Instagram and our monthly newsletter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Get Involved<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you are interested in becoming a general member, please sign up here<\/a>. General members are welcome to participate to whatever extent suits them; there are no obligations or expectations. As a general member, you will receive our monthly newsletter, be invited to participate in weekly meetings, contribute ideas, give feedback to executives, and vote in our end-of-year elections. General members bring the society to life through their participation and presence. You do not have to be a sociology or anthropology major to register; all Carleton students are welcome! General Members who participate in at least three events or general meetings per semester will be eligible for a CCR credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
