Nick Hopkins is Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Dundee University and the joint editor of the British Journal of Social Psychology. His work looks at the construction of group identity and its involvement in the organisation of group behaviour.  He has been particularly interested in the experiences and identity constructions of British Muslims. He has also studied the effects of participation in mass gatherings —  especially the Magh Mela — a major Hindu festival that takes place each year at Allahabad, north India.  This work addresses the social psychology of collective participation and its relevance for health and well-being.
