Nyla Branscombe

Nyla Branscombe is Professor of Psychology at the University of Kansas, and Senior Fellow with the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research Social Interaction, Identity, and Well-Being Program. One of her primary research thrusts concerns the effects of discrimination and trauma on members of historically disadvantaged groups. She has a prolific research career, and has been recognized in receiving the Otto Kleinberg prize for research on Intercultural and International Relations in 1996 and again in 2012, and has also twice received the Personality and Social Psychology Publication Award. She has published more than 120 articles, and served as Associate Editor of several journals including  Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, British Journal of Social Psychology, and Group Processes and Intergroup Relations. She has co-edited several volumes including The Handbook of Gender and Psychology (2013, Sage), Rediscovering Social Identity (2010, Psychology Press), Commemorating Brown: The Social Psychology of Racism and Discrimination (2008, American Psychological Association), and Collective Guilt: International Perspectives (2004, Cambridge University Press).
