About the Position:
The School of Social Work at Carleton University invites applications from qualified candidates for an appointment in Social Work at the rank of Associate Professor beginning July 1, 2018. Appointment can be made to a preliminary (i.e., tenure-track) or a tenured position, depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
About the Academic Unit
The School of Social Work offers social work programs at the Bachelor, Masters and PhD levels, (see https://carleton.ca/socialwork/). Current faculty research and practice address some of the following: social work pedagogy, race and anti-racism, social policy analysis, political economy of care, trauma, Indigenous knowledge, immigration and refugee issues, history of social work and social welfare, and child welfare. The School is committed to critical social work approaches and offers graduate courses in both policy and practice.
This position will be filled by a mature social work scholar with demonstrated ability to attract research funding, to build collaborative and interdisciplinary research teams, and to have a strong record of peer reviewed publications. The School is looking for a colleague who is a successful teacher at both BSW and MSW levels, and will be able to provide research and teaching mentorship to junior colleagues.
The School is seeking a scholar who is able to contribute to one or more of the following major areas of social work: Indigenous social work, racialization and anti-racist social work, social policy analysis, addictions, and social work and the environment. Candidates with strong research and teaching outside these identified areas will also be considered.
