The Rheal Brant-Hall Memorial Lecture

Confronting Colonial Violence in the Academy

Despite changes to educational systems Indigenous peoples still confront what I name as colonial violence when they enter sites such as the post-secondary educational system. In this talk I draw on my own lived experiences as well as my work that formed the basis of my book, Colonized Classrooms: Racism, trauma and resistance in post-secondary education to discuss how Indigenous peoples negotiate colonized spaces in academy.
