Congratulations to PhD student Alicia Kalmanovitch who this year has won the Canadian Association for Social Work Education annual award for the Outstanding Student Proposal. This award not only honours a student for excellence in an academic paper but provides assistance for the student to present the paper at the annual CASWE conference that is part of the Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities. This year the Congress will be held in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia. Alicia’s winning proposal is for her paper, “Transforming Social Justice Learning into Practice: Skills for Integrating Social Justice in Field Placements.” Her paper was selected from over 50 submissions. We are indeed fortunate to have such outstanding students in our social work programs at Carleton.
