This year’s event, Black History Is Every Month: Joy in Every Step, <\/em>is a celebration of African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) communities and the legacy, creativity, and leadership that continue to shape our world. The evening invites us to reflect on how joy lives in our stories, our culture, our scholarship, and the everyday ways we show up for one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening will feature live music, poetry, and visual art, alongside a dynamic keynote by Dr. Andrew B. Campbell (Dr. ABC). The event will be hosted by Nana aba Duncan, Associate Professor and Carty Chair in Journalism, Diversity, and Inclusion Studies at Carleton University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through reflection, dialogue, and community connection, we will celebrate how joy shapes African, Caribbean and Black life, learning, leadership, and liberation. Highlighting histories rooted in brilliance, love, creativity, humour, and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as Canada marks 30 years of Black History Month celebrations in Feb 2026. We reaffirm that African, Caribbean and Black joyous celebration is not confined to one month. It is lived every day and in every step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Andrew B. Campbell<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew B. Campbell (DR.ABC) is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, in Leadership for Racial Justice in Teacher Education in the Master of Teaching Program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the Coordinator for the Black Future Educators\u2019 Program (BFEP) and the newly appointed Centre for Black Studies in Education (CBSE) Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His scholarship and teaching focus on advancing equity and belonging, affirming Blackness, educational leadership, 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, teacher education and Black educators\u2019 pedagogy and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He loves people, food, fashion, travelling and bringing his community together for a good meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
