Her doctoral studies (Columbia University) and postdoctoral studies (McGill University) focused on the wellbeing of children of immigrants and their families. She also worked directly with inner city youth in New York City. Dr Lahaie was an instructor then Assistant Professor with the School of Social Work from 2010-2014, as well as Adjunct Research Professor until 2019.

After living in London UK, she recently returned to Ottawa and has reconnected with faculty at the school. She is Adjunct Professor at Carleton University School of Social Work. Originally from the province of Quebec, she is interested in helping the School navigate the Quebec order of Social Workers as the school develops an Indigenous-Based Social Work program in Quebec. She has also been involved in educating students on Francophone realities. She has co-founded GénérActions, a bilingual organisation promoting the development of meaningful relationships towards stronger community connections. This is done through the implementation of intergenerational programs, mental health peer support groups for teenagers, as well as diversity training. Dr Lahaie embraces a multi faceted approach through applied research, evaluation, knowledge dissemination and community based development programs.

Select publications:

Lahaie, Claudia (2022). Les voies du slam.
