I have a strong background in qualitative research, health and social policy analysis, as well as direct intervention with clients. I completed MD (1997) from Comenius University, MScMed (2006) and PhD (2010) from Memorial University, Postdoctorate (2013) at the University of Ottawa, and MSW (2017) from Carleton University. I also completed studies in early childhood education (2003) and autism and behavioural science (2019) at Algonquin College.

I am currently employed by the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa as a child protection worker where I provide investigative and protection services to children, youth, and families on a team with a specialized focus on equity, diversity and inclusion. Previously, I worked with children and their families as a childcare support worker at family shelters and an educational assistant in all levels of primary and secondary schools.

Throughout my engagement with the community in my social work-related positions as well as my research experience, I was interacting with various minority groups which included indigenous people, racialized and visible minority groups, immigrants and refugees, persons with disabilities and members of gender and sexual minorities. I developed a set of recommendations for the Ottawa Hospital for improving the institutional policies and practices regarding diversity, inclusion, and universal access. With the cooperation with the Centretown Community Health Centre, I have presented about the provision of diversity inclusive and culturally responsive care to numerous providers of health and social services in Ottawa.

I also have an extensive experience working with university students, professors, and administrators. Since 2022, I work as a Faculty Liaison and Field Placement Seminar Instructor with BSW students at Carleton University where I have been also working in the past as a tutor of undergraduate and graduate students at Paul Menton Centre and a teaching assistant at the School of Social Work. Between 2014 and 2021, I worked as an admission advisor and academic relations liaison with international scholarship students at the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau. I enjoy working with social work students in the academic setting and support them on their field placement journeys to craft their practical knowledge and skills as future social workers. I value and appreciate to be part of these journeys and grow together with students both as a person and a social worker.

[81

post-6063","cu_people","type-cu_people","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","cu_people_type-faculty-liaison
Faculty Liaison
MD (Comenius), ECE (Algonquin), MSc (Memorial), PhD (Memorial), MSW (Carleton), Graduate Certificate in Autism & Behavioural Science (Algonquin)
["GET
