Our next admissions cycle will be for possible entry in the Fall of 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following components are required for admission: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ouac.on.ca\/\">Online Application on Ontario Universities&#8217; Application Centre (OUAC) <\/a>or <a href=\"https:\/\/360.carleton.ca\/\">Carleton360<\/a> for internal applicants under Applications; the deadline to apply for the Bachelor of Social Work is\u00a0<strong>March 1, 2027.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supplementary Application (work experience and essay response); the deadline to submit the supplementary application is\u00a0<strong>March 5, 2027. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>No late submissions will be accepted.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/socialwork\/bsw-faqs\/\">frequently asked questions<\/a> page for BSW Admissions before contacting the School, as it contains very helpful information and many answers to your questions may be located on that page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All questions concerning the application process or BSW program requirements must be referred to the School&#8217;s Undergraduate Administrator, Gabrielle Crete, at<a href=\"mailto:gabriellecrete@cunet.carleton.ca\"> gabriellecrete@cunet.carleton.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Follow us on social media for ongoing events and information from the School of Social Work!&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"bsw-applicant-evaluation-criteria\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">BSW Applicant Evaluation Criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All applicants must meet Carleton University\u2019s minimum admission requirements. Please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.carleton.ca\/programs\/social-work\/\">Undergraduate Admissions website<\/a> to review these requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All applicants should have a minimum average of 75% overall, whether applying from high school, college, or university (Carleton included).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amount and quality of human service\/social change work or volunteer experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Essay question response.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Please Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/socialwork\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/224\/2026\/06\/Essential-Requirements-BSW-Program_Updated-June-2026-4.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"7758\">Essential Requirements BSW Program<\/a>. Students are required to meet these requirements throughout their studies to remain in the BSW program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note the Bachelor of Social Work program is an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in-person program<\/span> and many of the core required courses involve compulsory attendance requirements to achieve the credit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students must complete two placements in order to meet degree requirements for the BSW (some students may receive transfer credit for the first of these placements, depending on completed education). Please be advised that social work placements&nbsp;are unpaid. For more detail on current practicum policies, <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/socialwork\/bsw-practicum\/\">please visit the BSW Practicum Hub;<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While a police records check is not requested as part of the application to the program, it may be required for current BSW students for the practicum components of the program. Check our policy for more information on the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/socialwork\/police-record-checks\/\">School\u2019s police record check<\/a>;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"supplementary-application-submission\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supplementary Application Submission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will be able to access the supplementary application once Carleton has received your application to the Bachelor of Social Work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To access the supplementary application:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/360.carleton.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carleton360<\/a>\u00a0using your MyCarletonOne (MC1) credentials.<br><em>Instructions for setting up your MC1 account are available on the\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.carleton.ca\/applicant-information\/\"><em>I\u2019ve Applied to Carleton: Applicant Information<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<em>page.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Applications<\/strong>\u00a0from the left-hand menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate your\u00a0Bachelor of Social Work\u00a0application under\u00a0Submitted Applications\u00a0and click the\u00a0<strong>+<\/strong>\u00a0sign.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll down to the application checklist and click\u00a0<strong>Supplementary App<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please take note of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013&nbsp;<strong>Important: You can only submit the supplementary application once.<\/strong>&nbsp;Upon submission, your supplementary application is considered final.<br>\u2013 Complete all the sections as per the instructions.<br>\u2013 You can save your work and return later to complete your submission.<br>\u2013 After you submit the supplementary application, a copy will be emailed to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"supplementary-application-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Supplementary Application requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An applicant\u2019s supplementary application includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Admissions essay (500 words max.; 3,500 characters)<\/strong><br>How do your life, work, and educational experiences connect to society at large and how have they shaped your interest in studying social work at Carleton University?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Optional essay submission (250-500 words max.)<\/strong><br>Explaining any circumstances that may have impacted your academic performance or work experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Resume<\/strong><br>You may include relevant:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paid work experience*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unpaid\/volunteer experience*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervised placements, co-ops or practicums*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificates, licenses and trainings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other community or school involvement<br><br>*You will be asked to include the dates worked and number of hours and\/or number of weeks worked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Self-Identification form (optional)<\/strong><br>You will have the opportunity to self-identify as a member of an equity-deserving group.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you select that you identify as Indigenous, you must provide proof of Indigenous Identity. Well-articulated goals that suggest attending Carleton\u2019s School of Social Work is part of a clearly thought out career plan.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><tfoot><tr><td>Points<\/td><td>0<\/td><td>2<\/td><td>4<\/td><td>6<\/td><\/tr><\/tfoot><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"admission-decisions\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Admission Decisions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are able to track your application status in Carleton360. Questions about transcripts should be directed to the Undergraduate Admissions Office at <a href=\"mailto:admissions@carleton.ca\">admissions@carleton.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Admission decisions typically begin to appear in late April, however timing may vary from year to year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All admission decisions are final. The School of Social Work does not have an appeal process for unsuccessful applicants, however we do encourage all interested applicants to apply again the next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"year-of-entry\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;Year of Entry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each year, we admit students into the first, second, and third year entry of our program, depending on what, if any, <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.carleton.ca\/apply\/transfer-credit\/\">transfer credit(s)<\/a> are awarded from applicants\u2019 previous post-secondary studies. An applicant&#8217;s year of entry or transfer credit cannot be guaranteed or confirmed before this process occurs as transfer credit can vary depending on the availability of inforamtion about your completed courses (i.e. course syllabi), the existence of equivalents at Carleton, and other factors.
