Rianne Mahon, Distinguished Research Professor in the School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA), the Institute of Political Economy, and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, as well as Professor Emerita (SPPA), was recently inducted to the Academy of Social Sciences by the Royal Society of Canada (RSC). Members of the Society have made exceptional contributions to their fields, and this recognition is the highest honour an individual can achieve in the Arts and Social Sciences.

Rianne is an internationally recognized expert on comparative social policy and gendered global governance whose contributions cover a range of important debates and traverse several disciplines. She has made major contributions to reformulating theories of the state and pioneered research on the OECD along with other international organizations. Through cross-national comparative analysis, she has advanced our understanding of the interaction of local, national and international scales of politics.
