Daniel Sherwin is a settler scholar and postdoctoral fellow with the Modern Treaty Implementation Research Project, working with Frances Abele and Stephanie Irlbacher-Fox. He completed his PhD in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2022. His dissertation, titled “The Political Development of the Treaty System in Canada,” examines the role of historical treaty-making in shaping settler-Indigenous relations. As a postdoctoral fellow, Daniel is examining how political struggles surrounding the negotiation and implementation of modern treaties shape the distribution of territorial authority in Canada.
