Open smart cities can be defined as cities that are socio-technologically enabled. They are also communities where there is receptivity to and a willingness to grow a critically informed type of technological citizenship (Feenberg) might become a reality for Canada.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Assistant Professor Tracey Lauriault<\/span><\/a> (<\/span>School of Journalism and Communication) developed this definition and guide to the open smart city in <\/span>collaboration with OpenNorth, Canada’s national open data civil society organization.<\/span><\/p>\n
