It will highlight key supports like the CISCE, peer mentoring, Elders-in-residence, and culturally specific mental health services. The workshop will also provide strategies for creating an inclusive classroom environment and addressing challenges faced by Indigenous students, such as cultural dislocation and intergenerational trauma. Through panel discussions, group conversations, and allyship training, participants will learn how to better support Indigenous students. The session will end with a brainstorming activity to generate new ideas for enhancing student support, alongside resource materials and follow-up opportunities for continued engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"learning-outcomes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Outcomes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, staff and faculty will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe supports available to Indigenous students at Carleton<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify strategies for creating inclusive learning environments for Indigenous students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Formulate ideas for enhancing student support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-to-expect-at-the-session\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to expect at the session<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Session length: 1.5 hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop may include the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Periods of sitting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listening to a facilitator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussion and interaction with colleagues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Viewing a multimedia presentation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton University embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
