Through a mix of lecture-style content and discussion opportunities, participants will learn when and how to refer international students to key services and supports, and reflect on the role that they can play in supporting international student success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"learning-outcomes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Outcomes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, staff and faculty will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recognize the challenges and barriers that international students face both in the university and immigration systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore the role that participants can play in contributing to making campus a more welcoming place for international students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Utilize strategies to support international students\u2019 success<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refer international students to appropriate resources based on their needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-to-expect-at-the-session\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to expect at the session<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Session length: 1.5 hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop may include the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Periods of sitting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listening to a facilitator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussion and interaction with colleagues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Viewing a multimedia presentation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton University embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
