It will explore help-seeking behaviours in students, the holistic student experience, and an overview of various student support services on campus. Best practices for an effective referral will also be explored, with specific attention to how FIPPA plays into the referral process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"learning-outcomes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Outcomes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, staff and faculty will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recall at least one colleague and describe their role in student support at Carleton University<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain the holistic student experience and their role in the system of support at Carleton University<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe barriers to students accessing resources and construct solutions to encourage students to connect with resources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recall a variety of Carleton services and assess which service is an appropriate referral for students in novel situations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify the steps involved in completing a successful referral and utilize strategies for managing complex referrals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluate situations to determine whether a disclosure of personal information is permissible under FIPPA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-to-expect-at-the-session\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to expect at the session<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Session length: 1.5 hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop may include the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Periods of sitting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Movement around the physical space (optional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listening to a facilitator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussion and interaction with colleagues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Viewing a multimedia presentation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton University embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
