Using a simple yet effective model, LivingWorks safeTALK empowers everyone to make a difference. With over 120,000 people attending each year, it\u2019s the world\u2019s fastest-growing suicide prevention skills training course. Please visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingworks.net\/programs\/safetalk\">LivingWorks website<\/a>\u00a0for more information about safeTALK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that any members of the Carleton community who are concerned about a student can submit a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wellness.carleton.ca\/care-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Care Report\u00a0<\/a>through Wellness Services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"learning-outcomes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Outcomes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the course of their training, safeTALK participants will learn to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts might be present<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, and KeepSafe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further help<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-to-expect-at-the-session\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to Expect at the Session<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Session Length: 3 hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop may include the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Content warning: training includes topics related to suicide<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Periods of sitting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listening to the presentation given by the certified safeTALK trainer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Viewing and listening to videos (close captioned)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussion and interaction with colleagues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Viewing a PowerPoint presentation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Written training booklet is provided in English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton University embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
