A graduate of Carleton\u2019s Bachelor of Journalism program with a&nbsp;Master in International Relations&nbsp;from the University of Kent at Canterbury, he brings extensive experience in both professional journalism and higher education.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before joining Carleton in 2003,&nbsp;Thompson&nbsp;spent 17 years as a reporter with the Toronto Star.&nbsp;His journalism career began at the Kincardine Independent and later included work at the London Free Press before joining the Toronto Star. During his time there, he reported on a wide range of issues, including regional affairs, business, immigration, foreign affairs and&nbsp;defence.&nbsp;Thompson&nbsp;also gained international experience through an internship with Gemini News Service that took him to England and North Africa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thompson&#8217;s\u00a0expertise\u00a0lies in journalism, media, public affairs reporting, international\u00a0issues\u00a0and communication.
