Her contributions to education have been recognized through several prestigious\u00a0honours, including the OCUFA Provincial Teaching Award.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hellemans\u2019\u00a0research focuses on substance\u00a0use\u00a0health and mental health in emerging adults, with particular attention to how stress and early-life trauma influence vulnerability and resilience. She also examines approaches to reducing substance use related stigma and explores how scientific evidence can be effectively communicated to young people.
