What do I select for number of courses on the Fee Estimator?<\/a><\/dt>

<\/p>\n

For\u00a0<\/span>undergraduate students<\/span><\/strong>, each course is defined as 0.5 credit <\/span>on the fee estimator however some undergraduate courses can be 1.0 credit. Be sure to check how many credits your course is worth per term in order to get the most accurate fee estimate. You can do so by visiting http:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/courses\/<\/a>. There is no fee adjustment once you are registered in a full fee course load in the fall and winter terms. In other words, tuition fees will not increase when adding more than 2.0 credits (4 courses in the Fee Estimator) in the fall and winter terms.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Graduate<\/strong> fees are based primarily on your status. As a\u00a0<\/span>part-time graduate<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>student, the number of courses does not refer to the sum of the courses you are registered in. The fee is based on the total of your course(s) billing hours. If the total of your term\u2019s registration is less than 0.60 billing hours, select 1 course in the fee estimator. If it is equal to or greater than 0.60 billing hours, select 2 courses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Full time graduate students pay a flat, full fee rate regardless of the number of courses they are registered in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exclusively online graduate programs<\/strong> follow a different fee structure and are\u00a0not<\/strong> listed on the fee estimator. Currently the only program to follow this different fee structure is the Online MBA program. Please refer to the Online Program Graduate Fee page<\/a> for the tuition fees for the Online MBA program.<\/p>\n

I am an undergraduate student, am I a part time or full time student?<\/a><\/dt>

<\/p>\n

For the fall or winter terms:<\/p>\n

Students registered in 2.0 credits or more are charged a full-fee flat rate. In other words, there are no additional charges or fee adjustments for registration changes between 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 credits per term (4, 5 or 6 courses per term) and you should select full time.<\/p>\n

Students registered in 1.5 credits or less are charged per credit and should select part time.<\/p>\n

If you are registered in 1.5 credits or more in the term, you need to select YES to include the UPass fee on the fee estimator.<\/p>\n

For the summer term:<\/p>\n

Please select part time as your status as all students are charged on a per credit basis for every course they add. If you are registering in more than 3 courses, estimate your fees for one course and multiply it by the number of courses you are planning on taking.<\/p>\n

If you are taking 2 courses (1.0 credit) or more in the summer term, select YES to include the UPass fee on the fee estimator.<\/p>\n

I am a graduate student, how do I calculate the total cost of my program?<\/a><\/dt>

<\/p>\n

In order to estimate the total cost of your program, you need to know how many terms you are required to complete or the average number of terms it normally takes to complete your program. You can find this information on your program\u2019s departmental website (see: www.graduate.carleton.ca\/programs\/<\/a>) or by contacting the departmental administrator.<\/p>\n

Each term is 4 months in length and you may be required to study in all 3 terms of the year, fall (Sept \u2013 Dec), winter (Jan \u2013 Apr) and summer (May \u2013 Aug).<\/p>\n

Use the Fee Estimator and input the following:<\/p>\n
