At this time of year, some students may be feeling apprehension about the upcoming exam season. This may be especially true this year with the return of in-person exams that many students have not experienced in a while.

It is completely normal to feel a measure of stress about exams, so if that is your experience, know you are not alone. Also know we have many services and resources available to support your mental health.

The new Wellness website has excellent information, resources and events to support your mental and physical wellness. If you aren’t sure where to start, our Wellness Services Navigator provides a confidential and curated list of mental health and wellness resources. You will answer a series of questions about how you feel and specific concerns to describe your circumstances, and then the navigator will provide a tailored list of resources on campus and in the community for you based on your answers.

Carleton students also have access to free, confidential counselling services, including:

If you or someone you know is in crisis, help is available. In case of an emergency on campus, please call 613-520-4444 or dial 4444 from any on-campus phone. For off campus emergencies, call 911.

The Distress Centre of Ottawa provides mental health support for distress and crisis. You can call 613-722-3311 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or text 343-306-5550 between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Remember: your time at Carleton extends beyond academics. Wellness is a key component to success in the classroom and on campus. Take time to take care of yourself and reach out if you need help.
