Blue the therapy dog stands outside.

The Carleton University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Blue, who joined the Carleton community in 2016 as a therapy dog in Housing and Residence Life Services and held dedicated office hours in the Centre for Initiatives in Education.

“Blue made significant contributions to the Carleton University community by helping to normalize conversations around mental health,” says President Benoit-Antoine Bacon. “The therapy dog program is part of all we do to support our students and Blue played a key role in the development of that program.”

Blue was an integral part of the Carleton Therapy Dogs program, which launched in 2018. As an inaugural member of the program Blue even helped with the training and testing of new dogs.

“From his early days in residence, Blue was a valuable member of the Students and Enrolment division,” says Vice-President (Students and Enrolment) Suzanne Blanchard. “Blue demonstrated the kindness and compassion therapy dogs could bring to campus and helped to establish a program that now reaches countless members of our community each year.”

Carleton University extends its sincere sympathies to Shannon Noonan, Blue’s family and to the fellow members of the Carleton Therapy Dogs program.
