More information will be provided closer to travel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Health insurance:<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Required<\/strong><\/span>. You probably have coverage through student plans, parents\u2019 plans, or employer plans. You will be asked to provide proof that you are covered (screen capture of your coverage is sufficient) in order to travel.  If you do not have coverage please contact Professor Butler for advice on how to secure private insurance.<\/p>\n<p>For students who would like to confirm if their insurance coverage is adequate, they can connect with Carleton\u2019s risk and insurance team.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/riskinsurance\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/carleton.ca\/riskinsurance\/<\/a><br \/>\nri&#115;&#107;&#x40;&#x63;&#x61;&#x72;le&#116;&#111;&#x6e;&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>FAQ FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS UNDER THE CUSA\/STUDENT CARE PLAN 2020 INFORMATION:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. I will be part time during the Summer session May 2022. Will this affect coverage?<\/p>\n<p>Insurance is covered for the year if enrolled starting in September. If you begin your coverage in September, you will be covered for one year until August 31st. If you are enrolled starting in the Winter semester, you will also be covered for one year: ex. January-January. You are not covered just for the spring semester as there is no coverage for just that time. <strong>To be clear, if you are a full-time student taking at least 4 courses during the year, you are covered and will be covered in May 2022.<\/strong> If taking less than 4 courses there is a change of coverage time which has passed for the first semester. There is no deductible for the time in question. <a href=\"http:\/\/studentcare.ca\/rte\/en\/IHaveAPlan_CarletonUniversityUndergraduateStudentsCUSA_WhosCovered_WhosCovered\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>2. Are students eligible for travel health insurance? What is covered, what isn\u2019t, what is the deductible? What is the process for claims?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentcare.ca\/rte\/en\/IHaveAPlan_CarletonUniversityUndergraduateStudentsCUSA_Claims_HowtoClaim\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This page<\/a> outlines the claims process.<\/p>\n<p>If students have the health plan, they are eligible. Student Care covers 120 days per trip.<\/p>\n<p>Claims: reimbursement is done in Canada. If medical emergency occurs out of country, students pay out of pocket, bring back receipts, and file a claim. The day the claim is processed will be the Canadian currency value for an equivalent or similar procedure in Canada.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentcare.ca\/rte\/en\/IHaveAPlan_CarletonUniversityUndergraduateStudentsCUSA_Travel_TravelCoverage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here<\/a> for more information regarding travel coverage.<\/p>\n<p>3. Are students eligible for travel trip interruption insurance (not related to medical) ex. if someone in their family dies, if Carleton cancels the trip, if Canada declares a do not travel advisory?<\/p>\n<p>There is no travel trip interruption insurance that is not related to medical emergencies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentcare.ca\/rte\/en\/IHaveAPlan_CarletonUniversityUndergraduateStudentsCUSA_Travel_TravelCoverage_TripInterruption\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here<\/a> for information regarding trip interruption.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentcare.ca\/rte\/en\/IHaveAPlan_CarletonUniversityUndergraduateStudentsCUSA_Travel_TravelCoverage_Tripcancellation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here<\/a> for information regarding trip cancellation.<\/p>\n<p><em>Please note, the above information pertains only to UNDERGRADUATE students who ARE covered under the CUSA Student Care plan.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Coverage relating to COVID-19<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please note that the Student Care plan for undergraduates includes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Trip cancellation coverage \u201cdue to a Level Three Travel Advisory (\u201cavoid non-essential travel\u201d), or a change from a Level Three Travel Advisory related to COVID-19 to a Level Four Travel Advisory (\u201cavoid all travel\u201d), issued by the Government of Canada for your destination after the trip is booked.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 Trip interruption coverage due to \u201ca change from a Level Three Travel Advisory (\u201cavoid non-essential travel\u201d) related to COVID-19 to a Level Four Travel Advisory (\u201cavoid all travel\u201d) issued after departure,\u201d and \u201cquarantine after a positive COVID-19 test result, denied entry, or contact tracing while at the destination: meals and accommodation are covered up to $200 per day, to a maximum of $5,000 per trip.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 Medical coverage applies to \u201cCOVID-19-related emergency medical expenses for travelers under the age of 50, even during a Level Three Travel Advisory (\u201cavoid non-essential travel\u201d) issued by the Government of Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS COVERED BY GSA\/GREEN SHIELD<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The GSA provides travel insurance automatically and at no additional cost to health plan members. Coverage is for a maximum of <b>60 days per trip<\/b>, and for a <b>maximum of $5,000,000 per student<\/b> for emergency medical care.<\/p>\n<p>This <b>coverage is for emergency medical only<\/b>, not for flight cancellations, or for lost luggage. Students who have opted out of the health portion of the health and dental plan are not covered by travel insurance.<\/p>\n<p>Travel coverage is automatic as of the 2014-15 plan year.<span class=\"x_apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><strong>You no longer need to inform of your departure, or fill out a form<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For 24-hour emergency medical assistance while traveling, call 1-800-936-6226 toll-free in Canada and the USA. Call 0.519.742.3556 collect in other countries. You must call within 48 hours of the commencement of treatment.<strong><em><span class=\"x_apple-converted-space\"> Y<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><b>our ID number is CAR (for Carleton) plus your student number. Our GSC Travel Assistance Group is 5492.<\/b><\/em><em>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoListParagraph\">1. I will be part time during the Summer session May 2022. Are students eligible for travel trip interruption insurance (not related to medical) ex. if someone in their family dies, if Carleton cancels the trip, if Canada declares a do not travel advisory?<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">There is no trave\u00ad\u00adl trip interruption insurance for non-medical related instances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span>For further information, the graduate student inquiring about these details would need to call Green Shield and provide their personal account number to get the most accurate information as every health plan is different.
