Congratulations to both the Sprott School of Business and Procurement Services for achieving a Silver Rating in the Carleton Green Workplace Certification program. This is a great achievement and the work and effort towards sustainability by staff and faculty in these workplaces should be commended.

Their Silver rating shows that they have met the requirements for undertaking several actions and initiatives towards the green workplace certification at Carleton University and that they have pledged to promote sustainable workplace behaviors and practices. As examples of their commitment, Sprott set up a sustainability champions group to progress their work, sent out a sustainability survey and have committed to new programs such as zero waste when they move into their new home. Procurement took up the challenge by reviewing some of their initiatives with a renewed sustainability focus and a commitment to sustainable travel. Carleton University is committed to sustainability, and green workplaces like these are helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

The Green Workplace program guides workplaces, whether that be a department or smaller team, though a step-by-step program focusing on key themes such as energy, travel, and waste. It also provides recommendations and links to resources for staff to implement action or change behavior. Certification is based on the overall score with bronze, silver, and green ratings available. All workplaces that gain a rating receive a certificate and award.
