Sustainability efforts at Carleton have led to a decline in Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) and Emissions Intensity since 2000. Our goal is to reduce Carbon Emissions by 50% by 2030 and 100% (Carbon Neutral) by 2050. More information about Energy programs and GHG reduction can be found here.

The GHG Emissions for 2021 on the Carleton University campus were:

Total Carbon Emissions was 20,481 tonnes CO2.

Carbon Emissions Intensity (Building) was 0.0411 tonnes CO2/M2.

Carbon Emissions Intensity (Occupant) was 0.5944 tonnes CO2/Occupant.

44% Reduction in Emissions Intensity (CO2/M2) from 2006.

45% Reduction in Emissions Intensity (CO2/Person) since 2006
