Carleton University has advanced to the Silver participation tier in the federal Net-Zero Challenge<\/u><\/a>, Environment and Climate Change Canada’s program for organisations with credible, science-based plans to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Carleton is the only post-secondary institution in Canada taking part.<\/p>\n

Moving from Bronze in 2025 to Silver this year means meeting a higher bar and asks for more than commitment. The challenge requires a Canada-specific net-zero plan and an interim target in reduction in operational emissions. Carleton now shares the tier with organizations such as EY Canada and EllisDon, in a program whose participants include Canada Post and Microsoft Canada.<\/p>\n

The achievement reflects the collective efforts of students, faculty, staff, and campus partners, from the Energy Master Plan’s shift away from gas-fired steam heating to energy efficiency projects, sustainable campus planning and a culture of environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
