SUMMARY:SE Seminar Series: Jean-Sébastien Landry
DESCRIPTION:Title: Modelling approaches for climate–energy (and the land sector)

About the TalkAfter a short introduction on what modelling is, the presentation will focus on six different modelling approaches used to estimate greenhouse gas emissions, focussing on cases that are particularly relevant for analysis in the Canadian context. The presentation will also address challenges with the modelling of future scenarios that include large amounts of bioenergy.

About the SpeakerJean-Sébastien Landry is the Director of the Model Development and Quantitative Research (MDQR) Division within the Economic Analysis Directorate of Environment and Climate Change Canada. His main fields of expertise are in climate science, energy–economy, terrestrial ecosystems, air quality, and modelling of greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions. He has an undergraduate degree in Physics, a professional Master’s in Environment, and a Ph.D. in Geography during which he did his thesis on “Modelling the effect of fire, insect, and logging disturbances on climate and vegetation across various spatial and temporal scales”.
