BECOME A TA FOR THE EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE!

The EDC is looking to hire a Teaching Assistant (130 hours / term) in a service role for the Fall 2018 and Winter 2019 terms.

The position will involve providing support for the EDC’s TA-related initiatives, including TA Training and the TA Mentor Program. The candidate will help the EDC to fulfill its obligation to track attendance hours for its various live and online workshops via the TA Management System. Working with the Educational Development Facilitator and/or EDC partners, he or she will also be tasked with a small project(s) to help extend the EDC’s support for Carleton’s TAs.

Candidates selected for an interview will be graduate students registered full-time, in good standing in their program, and within their degree completion time. They will also be conscientious, detail oriented, available to work on a weekly schedule, and have some demonstrated interest in pedagogical matters (i.e., extensive participation in EDC TA workshops, completion of one of the EDC’s certificate programs for TAs, and so on).

Note that as a TA at Carleton, the maximum number of TAships you can hold is ONE full position (i.e., 130 hours). If you are the successful candidate, your TA assignment for the year will be with the EDC, and you will not be able to also take on another TAship with your department (or otherwise).

To apply, submit a 1-page cover letter, CV (max. 3 pages), and an up-to-date TA Training Transcript (available via Carleton Central) to samantha.shortt@carleton.ca. The due date for applications is Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 4 p.m.
