Carleton is known for its specializations in journalism, public affairs, and its successful language programs. Located in Canada\u2019s capital, Carleton is home to a large number of students who speak or are looking to learn a second\/additional language. The <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/slals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of Linguistics and Language Studies<\/a> (SLaLS) is \u201cthe place on campus for everything language\u201d and offers a variety of programs and courses in linguistics, applied linguistics and discourse studies (ALDS), and modern languages.<\/p>\n<p>SLaLS\u2019 award-winning faculty and a unique approach to the study of language attract academically focused students. The field of ALDS is an example of the School\u2019s distinctness in that several research areas from separate research traditions are combined into a single program, allowing for an introduction to the field at the undergraduate level and a deeper analysis at the graduate level. In addition, the Certificate in TESL program prepares teachers of English as a second language, permitting the graduates to practice in and outside Canada. The training ALDS graduates receive places them above their peers for careers in language education, government, business and emerging technologies.<\/p>\n<p>World-class programs in American Sign Language, Japanese and other languages offer minors to all undergraduate students, and English for Academic Purposes courses prepare speakers of other languages for linguistic success at university.<\/p>\n<h3>Conference Site<\/h3>\n<p>All conference sessions will be held on Carleton University campus,\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conferenceservices.carleton.ca\/cu-facilities\/richcraft-hall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richcraft Hall.<\/a>\u00a0This part of campus is the newest addition, with an open concept design and technologically-equipped rooms. The building also features a beautiful balcony that overlooks the Rideau River.Richcraft Hall is easily accessible above ground or via the tunnel that stretches the length of the University. All the conference rooms will be equipped with a computer, screen, high-speed Internet connection, and a projector. Wireless network will also be made available.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d2802.337475153631!2d-75.6984517843802!3d45.38236277910008!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x4cce0675db3de517%3A0xe60a9e7f17e1034a!2sRichcraft+Hall!5e0!3m2!1sen!2sca!4v1526046749626\" width=\"600\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Printing Services<\/h3>\n<p>CU on the GO is Carleton\u2019s public printing solution, allowing users to print, scan, and copy at more than 20 devices across campus. Easy to use and equipped with many advanced functions and capabilities, CU on the GO will make your printing, scanning and copying a breeze! Pre-paid print cards can be purchased by delegates from the Print Shop and the Library Services Desk.<\/p>\n<h3>Accessibility<\/h3>\n<p>Carleton prides itself on being one of the most accessible campuses in the country. TBLT 2019 Information Desk, as well as the Paul Mention Centre, 501 University Centre, can provide advice and information to delegates regarding accessibility issues. All buildings on campus are linked by well-lit tunnels which are open all day. Accessible washrooms are located in all buildings.<\/p>\n<h3>Health Services<\/h3>\n<p>Carleton University\u2019s Health Services is not open to the public but does provide care to individuals who require medical care that is of an urgent nature. This is for emergencies only; no appointment is necessary. All Canadian residents are covered; international patients pay Ontario Medical Association rates. A number of off-campus local hospitals (e.g., Ottawa Hospital) do provide care to the general public. Heath Services also operates a pharmacy.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hours<\/strong>: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. \u2013 4:30 p.m. (last walk-in by 3:45 p.m.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>: 2600 Carleton Technology and Training Centre<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>On-campus Parking<\/h3>\n<p>The closest lot to the conference venue is P16 Garage (with capacity of 50 visitor spaces) located under Richcraft Hall. The rate in this lot is $14.00 for 4 hours only.<\/p>\n<p>The P9 Garage visitor levels 1,2 and 3 is the second closest lot, with the daily rate of $14.00. The 3 visitor levels have about 100 spaces combined. Kindly note that parking spaces may be limited due to construction work being currently done on the Nickel Building.\u00a0The P18 Garage (at Residence) is the third option.This Garage is $11.00 for all day.
