{"id":193,"date":"2021-10-23T16:35:17","date_gmt":"2021-10-23T20:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/technicalservices\/?page_id=193"},"modified":"2023-11-14T15:05:45","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T20:05:45","slug":"affiliate-account-request","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/technicalservices\/affiliate-account-request\/","title":{"rendered":"Affiliate Account Request"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carleton Affiliate accounts are required for anyone who is<strong> NOT a current student, current full-time continuing employee or an alumni\u00a0who require access to Carleton\u2019s online systems and\/or require physical access to buildings on campus.\u00a0<\/strong>Affiliate accounts are temporary and created with a predetermined expiry date to a <strong>maximum of one year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Examples of Affiliates include<strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contractors\/Vendor\/Service Technician<\/li>\n<li>Visiting Academics (eg. Visting Scholars\/Professors\/Instructor\/Researcher)<\/li>\n<li>Casual Staff\/Volunteer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Affiliate Account Requests<\/h2>\n<h3>Roles<\/h3>\n<p>The following roles are required to set up an Affiliate account:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Affiliate<\/strong>: the individual requiring access to Carleton&#8217;s IT systems or campus buildings, who are not current employees, students or alumni.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sponsor<\/strong>: a continuing Carleton employee, responsible for the Affiliate&#8217;s legitimacy and onboarding. Sponsors usually support administrative functions, including employee onboarding.<strong> Sponsors are responsible for managing approvals, extensions and cancellations for the affiliate.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The process starts with<strong> identifying a Sponsor<\/strong>. Below is an example message you can modify to send.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hi [Affiliate name],<\/p>\n<p>I will be acting as your sponsor to facilitate helping you get a Carleton\u00a0Affiliate account. To start, I need you to visit https:\/\/carleton.ca\/technicalservices\/affiliate-account-request\/#affiliate and submit the Affiliate Information form.\u00a0I will be following up with you once the account is created.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a id=\"affiliate\"><\/a>Affiliate Steps<\/h2>\n<p>As the Affiliate, you should have been asked to visit this page to fill in the form below by a\u00a0<strong>Carleton employee, acting as your sponsor<\/strong>. If you do not know who that is, you will not be able to request an Affiliate account and you will need to follow up with the department you are working with to identify your Sponsor.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: complete and submit the form below<\/h3>\n<h2>IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ&#8230;The form below is for the Affiliate to fill out to capture the information that is needed, which will then be emailed to the Sponsor.
